Ceramic, painted Austria, around 1890 Marked “BB” for Bernhard Bloch as well as numbered with ‘7763‘ on the reverse side Humorous design Dimensions: 20 x 7 cm (length x height) Good condition This humorous figurative money box of a sleeping man was created around 1890 in Austria at the factory of Bernard Bloch. The coin slot is located on the belly of the man. Emptying the money box is only possible by breaking it. The figure has been marked with “BB” for Bernhard Bloch as well as with the production number ‘7763‘. It is in good, age-appropriate condition with some color flaking as well as scratches on the surface. The dimensions are 20 x 7 cm (length x height). Bernhard Bloch (1836-1909) Bloch was the most significant entrepreneur from the region around Eichwald in Bohemia where the so called Eichwald-ceramics come from. He produced high-quality decorative and usable ceramic for the middle class, affordable and original. With the beginning of his production, Bloch focused on articles for smokers, such as cigarette holders and tobacco jars in figural and naturalistic configuration. Ceramic, painted Austria, around 1890 Marked “BB” for Bernhard Bloch Humorous design Dimensions: 20 x 8 x 10 cm (length x width x height) Good condition This funny figurative still bank in the shape of a big sleeping man, recognisable as a student by the insignia of a student association was made in Austria around 1890 in the factory of Bernhard Bloch. The coin slot is located on the back. Emptying the still bank is only possible by breaking it. The figure is marked underneath with “BB” for Bernhard Bloch and the production number “7720”. The still bank is in good condition even though there are some signs of age. Hence there are some colour flaking as well as surface scratches. Terracotta, very fine cold paint Eichwald, Bohemia, around 1900 Manufacturer: Bernahrd Bloch (1836-1909) Large figurine of an Afro-American Underneath: embossed 'BB'-mark, 'P' and model no. 4727 Height: 60 cm Good condition The fine relief surface evokes an interesting representation of the different materiality This figurine of a young Afro-American originates from the manufactory Bernhard Bloch in Eichwald, Bohemia and dates to around 1900. The figurine is made of terracotta and is finely hand painted. The young man is wearing a fashionable suite and hat. He is leaning easily towards a fence. The model is executed very delicately, what becomes obvious especially in the treatment of the surface. The surface shows a slight relief that imitates the different textures of the cloth and the nature´s depiction. The figurine is marked at the bottom 'BB´ and bears an embossed 'P´ and the model no. 4727. It is in good condition with minor signs of age and use - a small restoration to the hat and minor chips to collar of the jacket. The height is 60 cm. Bernhard Bloch (1836-1909) Bloch was the most significant entrepreneur from the region around Eichwald in Bohemia where the so called Eichwald-ceramics come from. The range of products includes useful and decorative ceramics. This was high-quality decorative and usable ceramic for the middle class, affordable and original. With the beginning of his production, Bloch focused on articles for smokers, such as cigarette holders and tobacco jars in figural and naturalistic configuration. One of Bloch's more well-known marks is the embossed monogram 'BB' and the logo "Eichwald".
