Babe Ruth Memorabilia

Like apple pie and baseball, the name Babe Ruth almost resonates the word American. And to own a piece of Babe Ruth memorabilia is to own a piece of America’s baseball past. Over his career, this Hall of Famer earned seven World Series titles and hit an impressive 714 home runs.

Also known as “The Bambino,” “The Sultan of Swat,” and “The Babe,” Ruth was generous with his fans, and is rumored to have signed many autographs over his lifetime. In one instance, a Florida man said Ruth repeatedly signed baseballs for him at spring training sessions; the man regrettably sold them to feed his family during the Depression.

A collector today can still find Babe Ruth memorabilia at a reasonable price, although signed items are becoming harder to find. Overall, Ruth’s baseball cards are some of the most highly collected in the industry, and only ten of his Baltimore News rookie cards known to exist.

  • The Red Sox sold Babe Ruth's contract to the Yankees in 1920, but the year 1918 is considered by fans to be the beginning of the mythical, “Curse of the Bambino,” an over 80-year time period in which the Red Sox never won a World Series title
