      Die Himmelfahrt Mariae. Feder in Schwarz, grau laviert, oben halbrund. 40 x 25,5 cm. Unten rechts signiert und datiert "J C Storer I & F Ao 1641". Das überlieferte zeichnerische Werk von Johann Christoph Storer ist sehr klein: Sibylle Appuhn-Radtke verzeichnet in ihrer Monographie zu dem Künstler lediglich 18 gesicherte Blätter sowie 9 verschollene Zeichnungen (s. Sibylle Appuhn-Radtke: Visuelle Medien im Dienst der Gesellschaft Jesu. Johann Christoph Storer (1620-1671) als Maler der Katholischen Reform, Regensburg 2000). Unser Entwurf zu einer Himmelfahrt Mariae aus dem Jahr 1641 ist die bislang früheste bekannteste Zeichnung des Künstlers. Nach vier Lehr- und Wanderjahren in Augsburg und den Niederlanden hatte sich Storer ab 1639/40 in Mailand niedergelassen. Aus dieser Zeit existieren nur wenige Altarwerke, wobei die frühen Werke noch in der Tradition des Primo Seicento stehen: "Die komplizierte bewegten und verkürzten Figuren füllen reliefhaft den Vordergrund; auf einen eigentlichen Bildraum ist verzichtet" (Appuhn-Radtke S. 54). Entsprechendes trifft auch auf die Zeichnung zu, die sich eher flächig entwickelt und die sich auch in der Wahl des blassgrauen Farbtons eher an Augsburger Zeichner des frühen 17. Jh., wie etwa Johann Matthias Kager, Matthäus Gundelach oder Hans Friedrich Schrorer orientiert.
