Purdey Shotguns

James Purdey and Sons began designing and producing shotguns in 1814. Since that time, they have moved forward to produce some of London’s finest best-quality shotguns.

Purdey shotguns were quick to gain a strong reputation in London and have maintained that reputation for more than two hundred years. Purdey and Sons were the first to implement the Beesley action invented by an employee of Purdey.

James Purdey and Sons became proponents of the over-and-under shotgun. They experimented with the design and produced a 16-gauge over-and-under shotgun for Aga Ali Shah. Their over-and-under design influenced every over-and-under shotgun that followed. Purdey still produces extremely high-quality shotguns that appeal to the most discerning of hunters and sport shooters. These shotguns are still produced in London and the Purdey Company continues to innovate.
