    (Utrecht, 1596 - 1660) Pastore in riposo Olio su tela, cm 30X36 Formatosi nella bottega familiare, Peter rappresentì principalmente soggetti storici, mitologici, religiosi e nature morte. Rare alcune sue composizioni di genere, come ad esempio la Scena in cucina del 1620 circa, simile nella struttura a quelle di Cornelis Jacobsz Delft, Pieter Cornelisz van Rijck e Floris van Schooten. Il suo stile, inizialmente molto simile a quello del padre appreso probabilmente con la realizzazione di copie delle sue opere, mutì a partire dal 1620, assimilando caratteristiche dai dipinti di Abraham Bloemaert.

McGrath, A Netherlandish History by Joachim Wtewael in: Journal of the Warburg and Courtauld Institutes, XXXVIII, London 1975, S. 182-217., Umlaufend mit Einfassungslinie in Feder, links unten alt bezeichnet "Joachim Uijtenwael Fecit", verso Namenszug von fremder Hand. Wohl Kopie des Peter Wtewael nach dem Vorbild seines Vaters, Joachim Wtewael (oder Uytewael, 1566 - Utrecht - 1638), aus dem Zyklus der allegorischen Historie der Niederlande. Blätter aus diesem Zyklus befinden sich u.a. in der Sammlung der National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa. - Papier leicht nachgedunkelt und mit minimalen Handhabungsspuren, links oben die Spitze der Ecke angesetzt, ansonsten gut.
