      Oil on canvas, signed "Richter pinx." on the lower right. Half-length portrait in semi-profile depicting de Beauharnais bareheaded with black necktie, dark-coloured uniform with high, gold-embroidered stand-up collar, gold epaulettes and applied order decoration (breast star and sash to the Grand Cross of the Order of the Legion of Honour). Underneath it, on a gold background, a laurel wreath with inscription "Honneur et Fidélité" in front of a sabre of honour à la Mameluke. In a wooden profile frame (newly gilt) decorated with palmettes in relief. Slightly damaged in places, traces of age. Dimensions of painting 53 x 38 cm, dimensions of frame 67 x 52 cm. Fine painting of high quality. A similar portrait by the artist showing de Beauharnais in uniform is displayed in the St. Petersburg Hermitage. Condition: II

      Richter, Johann Heinrich Koblenz 1803 - 1845 Portrait of Prince Maximilianowitsch Romanowsky (1812- 1852). Signed and dated lower left: J. Richter ft. 1839. Oil on canvas. Relined. 76 x 62cm. Framed. Prince Maximilianowitsch Romanwsky, represented here as a young man the year he married, was born in Munich 1812 as Duke of Leuchtenberg. After he wed czarevna Nikolayewna Romanowna, he inherited the title "Prince Romanowsky" and the rank as Russian Generalmajor. 1840 he was attributed to "Imperial Highness" and was later adjutant to Czar Nikolaus. He died 1852 in St. Petersburg. Johann Heinrich Richter, a painter from Koblenz studied in Paris under Girodet and Gèrard, portrayed several members of the Leuchtenberg family, in his studio in Munich.

      Richter, Johann Heinrich Koblenz 1803 - 1845 Portrait of Karl Baedeker. Signed and dated right: J. Richter/ f. 1827. Oil on canvas. Relined. 60,5 x 50,5cm. Framed. In 1827 Karl Baedeker (1801 Essen/1859 Koblenz) opened his bookstore, which at the time was in Paradeplatz in Koblenz. It was during this year that he released his book, "Rhine Journey from Mainz to Cologne", the foundation which has become the well-known travel guides of today and his fame associated with it. In Koblenz Baedeker met painter Johann Heinrich Richter, who returned to settle in Koblenz in 1826 after completing his apprenticeship in Munich. The significance of Richter being a recognized portraitist is reflected, along with others, in portraits of Prince Romanowsky, which is listed under the Lot 635.
