Taittinger Champagne

The esteemed Taittinger Champagne house in Reims, France was founded in 1734 by Jacques Fourneaux, then later acquired in 1932 by Pierre Taittinger, a descendant from a long line of wine merchants. In the '60s, the brand achieved acclaim as a high-end Champagne house, and is still managed by the Taittinger family today.

Grapes used to make Taittinger Champagnes are pinot noir, chardonnay, and pinot meunier. Each of Taittinger's Champagnes are made with these three grapes except for Blanc de Blancs Comtes de Champagne, which is 100 percent chardonnay grapes. Production is around 400,000 cases per year.

Taittinger bottles have served as true collectibles over the ages. The 1985 and 1990 vintages of a commemorative art bottle celebrating American Pop artist Roy Lichtenstein sold for around $2,000 at auction.
