Notes

From the Clown Series. This sculpture was a central piece at the Marcel van Campen's exhibition of the same name. In the exhibition review it was described as following (in Dutch): 'Wander, Wonder Wheel, het houten beeld dat leidmotief is van deze tentoonstelling, gloeit en absorbeert tegelijk. De weerspannige vorm lijkt ontstaan uit de figuur met de puntmuts die door de tekeningen dwaalt. Die heeft zich zomaar vastgehecht aan het wiel van die circuswagen, die in de tekeningen af en toe bij een huis halt houdt. Hij balanceert daarop als een fietsacrobaat. Het laagje bladgoud geeft de figuur massa, maar ook een heiligheid die deze van binnen uit verlicht.
