Lot 22: The Battle of Kolding

Moritz Delfs Segeberg 1823 - Hamburg 1906 , The Battle of Kolding, Oil/canvas, 108,5 x 142 cm, lo. ri. sign. a. dat. M. Delfs 1854, on the stretcher fragment of a label inscribed 'Schlacht von Kolding'., German animal, landscape a. battle painter. D. was trained as lithographer before studying at the Vienna academy since 1848. He returned that same year to participate in the Schleswig-Holstein war. Together with Wilhelm Busch he went to Antwerp in 1852. He was a war artist in the Franco-Prussian war 1870/71.
