From first glance, it's easy to see that Abbott's vibrant designs for Hart, Schaffner & Marx the 'Makers of Fine Clothes for Men' weren't concerned in the least with showing the style of clothing available to the consumer. No, he was more concerned with setting the proper tone, showing the classical tie between fashion and society to underscore the solid tradition and quality of the wearer and the clothes he chooses to wear. With military proposals, colonial stability and intriguing dramatics, Abbott implicitly infers that success, it would seem, as well as a certain clothing line, are two things that are never out of style. Rare!
