Circa 1946 and 1937/printed later. 2 gelatin silver prints; the first on Agfa paper. 18 x 22,5 cm and 17,5 x12,5 cm. The first signed in pencil below the image in the margin, the second signed, dated and annotated in pencil on the verso and both with photographer's copyright stamp on the verso. The second image is an important photo in Henry Ries' oeuvre. His career as a photographer started with this small image of the Brandenburg Gate in 1937. On the verso he noted: MEIN ALLERERSTES PHOTO (My first photograph). - Apart from a small emulsion loss in upper left corner (second photograph), both in very good condition. Lit.: Henry Ries.
