About Galerie Bassenge

Biography

Galerie Bassenge traces it's roots back to the end of WWII, when a Jewish man opened the first gallery to preserve the historical antiques, artworks, and collectibles nearly destroyed by the war. Since that time, Galerie Bassenge has grown in prominence and prestige in the auction industry. The rich German history behind the gallery has contributed to the business practices and quality of items offered at auction.

As one of the oldest auction houses in Berlin, Galerie Bassenge has a long history in auctioning valuables, antiques, and collectables. Since 1995, the gallery has conducted more than 130 auctions. Certain notable collections from the gallery even garnered media attention.

In 2012, the auction house headlined with the sale of a complete set of 14 paintings created around 1921 by members of the Bauhaus. The Getty Research Institute in Los Angeles purchased the collection for $132,000. Today, Galerie Bassenge offers live auction online bidding through Invaluable.com to buyers around the world.
