Lot 171: Othmar Zechyr, Etching, Machine Structure, Austria, 1970

The present etching is a work by the Austrian artist Othmar Zechyr and dates back to 1970. It depicts a machine structure with wheels and tubes. The image is accompanied by a text at the lower left side of the plate. The work reflects a dark, almost creepy atmosphere which is typical for the artist’s works.

The etching on solid vellum is in good condition considering its age. The paper is partially unfresh and shows some scattered crease marks at the margins. The work is signed in the plate lower right ‘ZECHYR’. It is additionally signed and dated with pencil lower right ‘Zechyr 70’. On the lower left side it is numbered with pencil ‘2/99’. The sheet size is 64.5 x 50 cm. The plate measures 27.5 x 21.5 cm. (cbo)
