Louis Gossin (1846-1928)

The French sculptor was a student of Mathurin Moreau and together with his brother Etienne Gossin (died in 1900), who was also a sculptor, he ran a workshop for the production of terracotta statues. Gossin also created a variety of statues, statuettes and groups in marble, bronze, stone, plaster and occasionally in cast iron. He particularly focused on genre scenes or mythological and allegorical subjects. In 1882, Gossin received a 3rd class medal, in 1886 this was followed by the 2nd class medal. His works have for example been exhibited at the Salon de Paris and today they can for instance be seen in Toulouse at the Musée des Augustins. (nlu)
