George Heidweiller; acquired directly from the artist c. 1985

Notes

This painting, made on a used, rough piece of wood, shows Rothuizen's fascination with the street art of the 80s and with Keith Haring in particular. Rothuizen got to know Keith Haring during his first solo exhibition at the Stedelijk in 1986, and assisted him for several years after that. Back in the 80s artists George Heidweiller and Jan Rothuizen shared a studio in Amsterdam, and this painting Heidweiller received in exchange for one of his works.
