Maison Carée in Nimes, France. 1853. Salt print from a paper negative. 24,8 x 34,2 cm. Mounted to original board (some foxing), annotated in German in pencil below the image on the mount.
The German photographer von Herford studied with Eduard Baldus in France. Later he was commissioned to photograph historical monuments in France, which this photograph was probably a part of. A print of this image is in the collection of the Agfa Foto-Historama, Cologne. - Minimal foxing in lower left side of the image, minor handling marks in sky area, some fading in edges, especially lower left side, otherwise a rare print in good condition.
