A female nude is sitting on her right bent leg on an oval naturalistic plinth, supporting her left arm on the plinth. Scared, the upper body and the head are turned to the back, and the left arm is raised to the face.

Condition:
The bronze is overall in good condition. There is a restored breaking point at the right shoulder. The wooden base shows some nicks. The figure measures approximately 22 x 14 x 3 cm, and the base is 24.5 x 17 x 4.5 cm in size.

Ferdinand Lepcke (1866-1909)
Ferdinand Lepcke trained in the workshop of the Brothers Biber and at the School of Decorative Arts in Berlin. From 1883 to 1890, he attended the Berlin Academy. From 1888, he was a master student of Fritz Schaper. Since 1891, he was a member of the Verein Berliner Künstler [Association of Berlin Artists], and in 1905, he became a professor. Works of Ferdinand Lepcke are for instance in the collection of the Hermitage in Saint Petersburg and on display in public spaces, including the ‘Bogenspannerin’ [Female Archer] at the Kolonadenhof of the Alte Nationalgalerie in Berlin.
