Condition:
The stag sculpture is in a good condition with minimal signs of age and wear. The patina is partially slightly rubbed. The dimensions measure 37.1 x 34.9 x 14 cm.

Ernst von Hayn (1822-1896)
Hired as officer and Marshal of Prince Frederick of Württemberg, born on the 12th of February 1822 von Hayn devoted himself to the arts after his military career. For this, he did an apprenticeship under Stuttgart sculptor Theodor von Wagner and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe. Numerous travels have taken him to France, Italy and Spain, where he was able to deepen his studies. Predominately von Hayn is known for his naturalistic animal sculptures, but his landscape paintings in oil and watercolor as well as his numerous vedute are acclaimed works. These can be admired in numerous public collections, including the Alte Nationalgalerie Berlin, the Cultural History Museum Kaisertrutz in Görlitz or the Hamburg Kunsthalle.
