Cornelius Völker (b. 1965)
Born in Kronach, Cornelius Völker studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1989 to 1995. He was a student of A. R. Penck and in 1994 he became a master student of Dieter Krieg. In his paintings Cornelius Völker unveils the banalities of everyday life. In contrast to his subjects he cultivates a virtuoso brushwork with impasto paint. Since 2005 he has been active as a professor of painting at the Academy in Münster. He lives and works in Düsseldorf. (cbo)
