Lot 7112: Chinese 20th C. Fan

Fan, China, 20th century, paper leaf with painting of birds by Yan Bolong 颜伯龙(1895-1954), reverse with calligraphy by Shen Yinmo 沈尹默 (1883-1971), dedicated to Yu San, signed and sealed, carved wood frame, 20" x 7 1/2". Provenance: from the collection of Wen Tsan Yu 余文燦, dedicated to Yu San 育三, Yu's moniker. For over fifty years, this collection has been treasured by the family. This prominent Chinese family can also trace its descent to Moy Toy Ni (Charlie Toy) of Milwaukee, a successful businessman widely known as Chinese Rockefeller during the early 20th century.
