Description

"Bords de Loire". 1948. Vintage ferrotyped gelatin silver print. 23,8 x 30,3 cm. 2 photographer's stamps, address 27, rue Barthélemy-Delespaul, Nord Lille France on the verso.
Roger Catherineau took up photography in 1948 after attending École du Louvre and École des Arts Appliqués. In 1953 he began experimenting with photograms and established regular contact with experimental photographers throughout Europe, including Otto Steinert. He had his first exhibit the same year and in 1954 he took part in 9th Salon National de la Photographie in Paris. His work was published in many magazines such as Photo-Cinéma Magazine , Photography of the World , Ciné-Photo Magazine and Clic . - Corners bumped and with light creasing, light vertical indentation line in left portion, a few handling crease marks and stronger crease near upper edge with cracking to emulsion, otherwise a dark tonal print in very good condition.
