The German artist Anna Tessenow is well known inter alia for her portraits of famous Hollywood actors; the auction record for a print by the artist currently stands at €5,400

The contrast between striking colored flatness and the plastic modulation of portraits is a core theme of the artist. Here a ground of abstract areas in red, orange and green creates the antipole to the portrait of actor Pierce Brosnan, who is placed in the lower right image area and looks directly at the beholder.

The zincography is signed and dated lower right in pencil ‘A. Tessenow 2008’, inscribed lower right in pencil ‘e.a. 10’ and titled lower center in pencil ‘Pierce Brosnan’. The sheet is rolled and bears a handling crease in the upper margin. Overall it is in very good condition. The image measures 68.1 x 50.1 cm, the sheet 80.2 x 60 cm.

Anna Tessenow (b. 1978)
The artist Anna Tessenow, born in Markranstädt and raised in Güstrow in Mecklenburg, began her studies in 1996 at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig in the class of Prof. Arno Rink. After her graduation, which she received in 2002, she became a master student under Rink in 2005. As part of a scholarship she created 14 large paintings and four motifs for prints for the art'otel anna tessenow in Leipzig in 2007/2008. Up to date, Anna Tessenow’s work has been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions. The artist lives and works in Leipzig. (fea)
