'Italian Line'/Central America.
In another Sassi creation for Italian Line's service to Central America, the artist called upon mango-tinged waters and the stylized gyrations of an exotic couple in a carnival mood to get her promotional point across (see PAI-XXXI, 157). Here, however, she solidifies matters without changing any of the primary elements from the previously seen design: the couple parties on, the ship sails on and ultimately we still arrive in Central America. Only now everything is set against a sold black background to ensure the unwavering focus of the viewer at large. Sassi created the bulk of her designs for navigational firms, executing eye-snagging works marked by an effective use of extreme modernism.
