Ahmed Alsoudani (b. 1975)
The artist was born in Baghdad and moved to the USA in 1999, where he began studying art at the Maine College of Art. Originally, he had discovered his passion for painting in Damascus. In 2006 he completed his Bachelor's degree which was followed by a master's degree at Yale University in 2008. Alsoudani presented his works for the first time in a group exhibition in 2007 in Manhattan. In 2009 he moved to Berlin, where he set up a studio. Alsoudani’s works gain much attention in the US as well as in Europe and the Middle East, thus for example in 2011 he represented the Iraqi pavilion at the Venice Biennale.
