Traditional Islamic ornamentation, kaleidoscopic arranged and subtly decorated in tones of gray, form the basis of this set of prints. Elements reminiscent of barrier tapes and a road sign stand out in their signal-like red and white as well as black silhouettes of soldiers. The compositions are also complemented by individual sentences in Arabic and English -presumably quotes from the American TIME Magazine- dealing with the issue (Iraq) war. The artist Abdul Gharem, who also serves as major in the Saudi army wants to stimulate the viewer to question fixed ideas and traditions.

Condition:
The 4 serigraphs are in overall very good condition. The glass granulate slightly comes loose. The images measure each 76 x 95.5 cm, the sheets 100 x 118 cm.
