Lot 806: A bronze statuette 'bacchant'

A bronze statuette 'bacchant', Italy, 16th. cent., circle of Maffeo Olivieri (Brescia 1484 - ibid. 1544). Bronze, black patina, on a gilded wooden base. The walking youth is wearing a draped cape, originally he probably held a cup in his raised left hand. Attribute lost. Figure H. 15 cm, base (min. damage to paint) H. 6,5 cm. - Prov.: from a private collection in northern Germany.
