He also painted portraits and murals, and exhibited at the RA between 1929 and 1947. Webb taught at Chiswick School of Art in the 1930s and at Hammersmith School of Art in the 1940s. He was elected to the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers in 1930.

    Joseph Webb (American (Boston), late 18th century). Pair of heavy cast iron figural andirons or fire dogs depicting a standing male Scottish clansman wearing traditional tam cap and kilt smoking a long pipe. Overall approximate height 11.75", width 7", depth 13.25". Reference: Kauffman & Bowers 10. Provenance: Hastings House, Essex Square, Essex, Connecticut whereby acquired by the Estate of Dr. Woody and Mrs. Honor Cobbs, Atlanta, Georgia in October of 1972. Note: the andirons in this lot are an example of the single andiron shown on a 1767 Paul Revere engraved copper plate used to produce 150 trade cards for Boston iron merchant Joseph Webb. Webb and Revere were fellow Freemasons and business colleagues.
