Following which Taylor moved into commercial art, working at the National Screen Service on artwork for film publicity and during the War she was employed designing government leaflets for dropping on occupied Europe as part of the war effort. All this time, Taylor experimented with different styles of line drawing and painting, but it was during the 1960s that she developed her main style which she continued for over 30 years. She said, "These works were based on a concept which has since been described as "the tension between 'natural' and 'contrived' beauty."
