Raymond SUDRE Perpignan, 1870 - Paris, 1962 Gélida Bronze à patine brun nuancé

    Est: €3,000 - €4,000

Raymond SUDRE Perpignan, 1870 - Paris, 1962 Gélida Bronze à patine brun nuancé Signé et annoté 'R. SUDRE / 1ere / EPREUVE' à droite Hauteur : 39 cm (15,35 in.)

    Apr. 12, 2023

RAYMOND SUDRE (Perpignan, 1870 - Paris, 1962). "Female nude". Marble. Signed.

    Est: €2,000 - €2,400

RAYMOND SUDRE (Perpignan, 1870 - Paris, 1962). "Female nude". Marble. Signed. Measurements: 44 cm (height). This work represents a lady with a slender anatomy and elegant features, naked on what seems to be the corner of an architectural site. The mastery of the soft and careful modelling is outstanding. Her gaze reveals a face with a strong personality, beautiful but serious, gazing proudly at her forehead. Raymond Sudre learned to carve stone from his father's profession, who was a marble worker. He moved to Paris to attend the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, where he was a pupil of the sculptor Alexandre Falguière and, after his death, of Antonin Mercié. In 1900 he won the second Grand Prix de Rome in sculpture for his statue David. Thanks to the success of his statue Héléna in 1905, he was awarded a travel grant and visited Spain, Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands.
