Condition: Scattered spots of inpaint, small paint fleck lower right. From the Alexander Raydon Gallery, Madison Ave, Manhattan. New York. Mr. Raydon was a well-known collector and dealer and passed away in 2005. This piece has remained in the collection.

Niles Spencer Precisionist Town Landscape Painting

New York, Rhode Island,1893-1952 Depicts an town of simplified buildings in polychromatic colors. Spencer studied at the Rhode Island School of Design, with Charles Woodbury in Maine, and with the avant-garde group surrounding Hamilton Easter Field. Associated with Precisionist paintings, Spencer produced a small numbers of work due to his methodical painting habits and held only two one person exhibitions.
