          Utopian Novel.- [Berington (Simon)] Geschichte des Gaudentio di Lucca, translated by Johann Bernhard Rack, 2 vol. in 1, first edition in German, titles in red and black, the first with engraved vignette, typographic ornaments, an excellent clean copy, contemporary half calf, spine gilt, slightly rubbed, 8vo, Frankfurt & Leipzig, van Duren, 1751. ⁂ Scarce German translation of an important utopian novel once thought to be the work of Bishop Berkeley but in fact by Simon Berington (1680-1755), professor of poetry and philosophy at the English College at Douai.
