    Two post-War motoring cartoons by William August Sillince (British, 1906-1974) and Ken Pyne (British, 1951-) the first by Sillince, signed, ink on woven paper, titled "Tow'ee to the village, Mister? Can't. Ain't got twelve horses!", rural scene depicting a conversation between a motorist with his broken down car and a village local with his horse, 25 x 32cm, dated '12 Sep 1945' and with publisher's stamps to reverse, affixed within cream card mount, 33 x 39cm overall, the second by Ken Pyne, signed, pen and ink on paper, titled "Good Grief! Isn't that the car we dumped near Maidenhead in 1956" , a humorous motoring auction scene, 19 x 26cm, published in Punch magazine, dated 1987/88 to reverse. (2)

    WILLIAM SILLINCE (BRITISH, 1906-1974) "SO I'M GIVING YOU THIS TICKET FOR 'CINDERELLA' BUT DON'T BE LATE HOME" signed l.r; published in Punch on 11th January 1939 on page 52 pencil on canvas 19cm x 26.5cm; 7 1/2in x 10 1/2in William Sillince was born in Battersea. He studied at the Regent Street Polytechnic School of Art and the Central School of Arts & Crafts. He worked in Haddons Advertising agency before turning freelance. He contributed to Punch from 1936 right up to his death as well as many other magazines. Five books of his Punch cartoons were published between 1941 and 1945. He lectured at the Brighton College of Art and created the Alice in Wonderland Room at Burton Constable Hall in 1967.
