Very slightly browned, beautiful overall Erläuterungen / Comments In der Anlage der Landschaftskomposition wiederholt das Blatt eine in Grau und Braun lavierte Kreidezeichnung, die sich in der Sammlung der Albertina befindet (Schulz, Nr. 805). Beide Blätter gehörten zu einer umfangreichen Gruppe von "allgemeinen Landschaften". Im Unterschied zu Saftlevens topographischen Ansichten aus den Niederlanden und von seinen Reisen in Deutschland folgen diese weitgehend der Phantasie des Zeichners. In its landscape composition, the sheet repeats a chalk drawing washed in grey and brown that is in the Albertina collection (Schulz, no. 805). Both sheets belonged to an extensive group of "general landscapes". In contrast to Saftleven's topographical views of the Netherlands and his travels in Germany, these are largely the result of the artist's imagination.
