Inscribed by Corinne Roosevelt to the son of a colleague of her brother’s, past president Theodore Roosevelt (1858-1919) Note laid in correcting Corinne Roosevelt’s inscription, the note is initialed ‘T.R.’ and attributed to Theodore Roosevelt Octavo (195 x 135); in publisher’s cloth boards with gilt letters and crest on front cover and spine, partial dust jacket with the edition, in mylar cover, deckled edges Very good condition Corinne Roosevelt Robinson (American, 1861-1933) Corinne was an American poet, writer, and lecturer. She was born in New York to the illustrious Roosevelt family. Her brother, Theodore became the 26th president of the United States, and her niece Eleanor was a first lady and champion of the arts. Growing up in such a family, Corinne enjoyed a privileged childhood which afforded her regular travel and a good education. Corinne’s friend, Edith Wharton helped edit and critic Corinne’s poetry. Corrine published her first poem in 1911 in “Scribner’s Magazine”. In 1920, Corinne became the first woman to ever be called upon to second the nomination of a national party convention candidate; speaking before a crowd of thousands. Condition Some very minor soiling and scuffs to the boards. Faint, minor age toning to the edges of the pages and front free endpaper. Dust jacket only partially retained.
