Terms and Conditions

1) All property is sold "as is" and neither the auctioneer, the Consignor, or the Old Canaan Market and its employees or associates, make any warranties or representations, in any respect, regarding the catalog descriptions, size, medium, age, origin, provenance, quality, authorship, condition, authenticity or utility of any items offered.

2) Some items may be offered subject to a reserve. That reserve is a confidential minimum price, set by the consignor, below which the item will not be sold. The reserve will always be within or below the range of the estimates.

3) As a courtesy and a service to our bidders, The Old Canaan Market will accept and execute absentee bids for those who cannot attend the auction in person. Absentee bids are executed at the lowest competitive level, as if the bidder was present; if two left bids are of an identical amount, the earliest left bid, by date or time, takes precedent. Online bidders may leave confidential absentee bids through liveauctioneers.com or invaluable.com

4) At the fall of the Auctioneer's Hammer, ownership of the offered lot passes to the bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer, and that bidder assumes all risk and responsibility for the item, and agrees to pay the full purchase price of the lot.
The Auctioneer solely determines the successful buyer. In the event of a dispute, it is the auctioneer who will determine if the bidding is re-opened.
The auctioneer reserves the right to withdraw, add, or divide any lot without liability for such changes.

We reserve the right to rescind the sale of any item that has not been paid in full, including purchase and any shipping costs, within 30 days of the auctions end.
