Reinicke worked as an illustrator in Munich, among others as an employee of the Fliegende Blätter (“flying leafs”), a humoristical and satirical magazine, and the Münchner Bilderbogen, a series of popular prints. He illustrated among others for the books Lustiges aus der Tierwelt (1900) and Für Kinder die gerne lachen (1910), both publiched by Braun & Schneider. He studied at the Dresden academy (1876-1880) and in Munich (1880-1882).

      Walter Eduard Reinicke (German/American, 1890-1957), "Admiring the Boat Builder," gouache on board, c. 1930s/40s, signed lower right, measures 6.50 x 8.50 inches to the matt edge overall in the frame it measures 13.75 x 12 inches. CONDITION: Good. Reinicke studied at the Dresden academy (1876-1880), and in Munich (1880-1882) before coming to America where he worked out of Forest Hills, Queens and Brooklyn, NY. He was employed by Carlyle and Oring Studios in Manhattan in the 1940s and was known to have exhibited at the Society of Independent Artists in New York City.

Reinicke” and “1911” Under passe-partout Decorative baroque style frame from the period Dimensions: 27 x 21 cm Fine original condition This “cupid scene” in mixed technique on paper is a caricatural work by the German illustrator Walter E. Reiniscke (1859-?), who worked in Munich. The painting, framed under passe-partout and with original mounting, shows a park in which a kneeling young man woos a young lady. His hat and tennis bat are set aside. An old man with a pointed beard appears to the right behind the bushes. Cupid stands in front of him with an arrow in his hand. He has left his quiver with more arrows in the tree directly above the courting couple. A male portrait statue surprisingly smiles behind the lovers. The sheet is signed and dated lower right, “E. Reinicke” and “1911”. It is set in a very beatiful baroque style frame from the period. The painting and frame are in very good condition. The dimensions are 27 x 21 cm. Walter E. Reinicke (1859-?)
