Selenka, with his ticket, the sides richly panelled in gilt and blind, gilt edges (small scuff on the upper side). IN A FINE BINDING BY SELENKA. Possibly the first edition of the author's reconstruction of the chryselephantine statue of Minerva, a work subsequently collected in his Monuments et Ouvrages (1829). Rare: WorldCat records copies only at the Anna Amalia Library in Weimar, and at the Getty Research Library; ABPC records no copies selling at auction in over 30 years. SEROUX D'AGINCOURT, Jean Baptiste (1730-1814). Recueil de Fragmens de Sculpture Antique en Terre Cuite. Paris: Treuttel and Wurtz, and others, 1814. 4° (282 x 215mm). With half-title and errata. Engraved frontispiece and 37 engraved plates. Contemporary polished calf by Selenka, with his ticket, sides panelled in gilt and blind, marbled edges. FIRST EDITION, AN EXCELLENT COPY IN A FINE BINDING BY SELENKA. A book on the terracotta antiquities in Seroux's private collection, the plates often with several figures on a sheet. The final plate shows the tomb of the Count de Caylus. Brunet V, 311; RIBA 2979. (2)

Half-titles. 13 engraved plates, 2 of which hand-coloured and 7 folding. (Occasional light spotting.) Contemporary diced russia, sides with gilt rules, purple endpapers, sprinkled edges. A FINE COPY, collecting some of the author's better known work, primarily: his reconstruction of the pediments of the temple of Minerva on the Acropolis, a reconstruction of the chryselephantine statue of Minerva, and a reconstruction of Alexander the Great's funerary cart, the latter with a splendidly imaginative hand-coloured folding plate. Rare: ABPC records no copy selling at auction in over 30 years. Not in Blackmer. Brunet IV, 1003-4 (his works are 'very sought-after'). (2)
