    ATTRIBUTED TO EUNICE PINNEY (1770-1849). The watercolor on paper depicts a beautiful young lady wearing a gold crown and holding a cornucopia of flowers seated in a chariot being pulled by two lions. We believe this to be the work of early folk art watercolorist Eunice Pinney who was active and lived in Connecticut. A note on the back indicates that this was originally from the Estate of Isabelle Atwood of Atwoodville Rd, Mansfield, CT. and references another work by Pinney on page 47 in the “Flowering of American Folk Art” by Lipman & Winchester. SIZE: Overall 14” w x 14” h. Watercolor itself is 13” x 13”. Condition: CONDITION: The paper is toned. Temp No 1303_6161

    THE ALLEGORICAL FIGURES OF HOPE, FAITH, PEACE AND CHARITY: FAMILY REGISTER OF THE BUTLER PINNEY FAMILY measurements 11.3 by 8.8 in. alternate measurements 28.7 by 22.4 cm inscribed Mrs. Eunice Pinney, l.r. in what appears to be the original carved giltwood and gesso frame. Nina Fletcher Little's typed paper jelly label attached to the cardboard backing records the following information: Pinney Family record, Simsbury, Connecticut drawn by Eunice Pinney, well-known folk artist (1770-1849). Design derived from the engraved family records of Richard Brunton.
