  • Homer Page (American, 1918-1985), "Win the War", silver gelatin print, signed, 20th century, matted and unframed
    Jan. 22, 2015

Homer Page (American, 1918-1985), "Win the War", silver gelatin print, signed, 20th century, matted and unframed

    Est: $1,000 - $1,500

Gelatin silver print, taken circa 1950s, signed and addressed in red pencil "Photograph by Homer Page, 169 W. 21, New York City" on verso, semi-gloss, warm-toned black and white print, probably printed ca. 1950s, matted and unframed. Homer Page was a neighbor of Dorothea Lange and she encouraged him to pursue photography. She was also instrumental in advocating him for a Guggenheim Fellowship, which he received in 1949. In early 1950 Page moved to New York city, where he continued to photograph his subjects. This subject was taken during this time. At the time of Homer Page's death in 1985, few of his photos were in private hands. His work was not "re-discovered and re-evaluated" until his third wife brought the negatives out of storage in the mid-2000s. ID44870. Please note that this item ships from zipcode 94618.
