Lithographic title and 21 views by Louis Haghe after Monson, on india paper mounted, engraved map by John Arrowsmith with routes in blue. (Some spotting, heavier in 4 plates.) Publisher's red russia-backed blue cloth by Leighton and Eeles (minor scuffs at extremities). Monson delineated the French High Alps to complement the better documented Vaudois, and his introduction gives an account of the topography, customs and manners of the region. Abbey Travel 60. (Light marginal spotting, tiny wormhole affecting last two text leaves and extending through plates.) Modern leather-backed boards. Publisher's red russia-backed blue ribbed cloth lettered in gilt, yellow endpapers, by Leighton and Eeles, Hancock's Patent, with their stamp (minor scuffs at extremities). Monson delineated the French High Alps to complement the better documented Vaudois, taking as his intellectual starting-point a popular biography of the Swiss Protestant minister Felix Neff.
