      Margaret Manuel (New York, Scotland 20th Century) signed etching. Signed 'Margaret Manuel' in pencil lower right. Title 'Wind-Swept Grasses' in pencil lower left. 'Ed 50' in pencil lower center of sheet. Measures 8.375-in. x 8.5-in. sheet size. Measures 5.875-in. x 6.875-in. for image window cut in mat. Unframed, with custom mat (12.5-in. x 13-in.). Hinge mounted. Not glued to mat. In VG/EX condition with tape at all corners, and upper, left and lower center. If lot is absent of a condition report a condition report may be requested via email. Condition report is provided as an opinion only and is no guarantee as grading can be subjective. Measures 9 1/2" x 7 5/8" (plate size) and approximately 13.25" x 10.75" (sheet size). Etching is in excellent condition, sheet has tape residue at top and bottom left corners. Unframed, loose and not mounted or glued down. Provenance: Amity Art Foundation, Inc. collection.       Margaret Manuel (Scottish-American, b. 1878), "In the Heart of The Cumberlands," Tennessee, c. 1922, etching on paper, signed in the plate with initials lower left, titled and signed under image in pencil, measures 6.50 x 6.75 inches to the plate mark, overall in the frame, 16 x 14.50 inches. CONDITION: Good, matt with some discoloration. Manuel was a woman artist who lived in New York City and Huntington, Long Island, New York, and traveled up and down the east coast in search of her subjects. An example of this print was chosen for inclusion in the 1922 Brooklyn Society of Etchers "First International Exhibition of Etching," which was held in 1922 at The Anderson Galleries of New York City.
