Description

Margaret Manuel (Scottish-American, b. 1878), "In the Heart of The Cumberlands," Tennessee, c. 1922, etching on paper, signed in the plate with initials lower left, titled and signed under image in pencil, measures 6.50 x 6.75 inches to the plate mark, overall in the frame, 16 x 14.50 inches. CONDITION: Good, matt with some discoloration. Manuel was a woman artist who lived in New York City and Huntington, Long Island, New York, and traveled up and down the east coast in search of her subjects. An example of this print was chosen for inclusion in the 1922 Brooklyn Society of Etchers "First International Exhibition of Etching," which was held in 1922 at The Anderson Galleries of New York City.
