Hand coloring on laid paper and two text plates, circa 1775 -1800, including examples by William Kilburn (1745 - 1818), F. Sansom, and James Sowerby. Average impression size 17.5 inches x 10.25 inches (44.5 x 26.5 cm), with the exception of one framed example, the others unframed.     William Edward Kilburn (British, 1818-1891) Hand-tinted Quarter-plate Daguerreotype of a Young Woman, in a leather case stamped "BY APPOINTMENT MR. KILBURN 234 REGENT STREET" in gold. Condition: Minor tarnish, slight bend in plate at c.r., case gently abraded and worn, scattered spots of corrosion on brass mat, white sealing tape visible at very edges of package, not examined out of case. Provenance: A private New England collection. N.B. In addition to gold paint applied to accentuate the sitter's jewelry, silver paint is used to draw attention to her choker.
