Judd In Mountain Landscape, Judd creates a definitively modern landscape in which colors are chosen to create a mood and forms are abstracted to communicate the artist's feeling about the subject and invoke an emotional response in the viewer. Therefore, this mountain vista has been simplified into fields of plastic masses which crest and dip in a languorous rhythm. The expressive and enchanting palette is jewel toned. Intense blues and greens are beautifully contrasted with purple and yellow. Judd skillfully uses color for emotional effect and to integrate the painting's design.
