      Violeta Janes (1910-1994) Portrait of Diane Vreeland. Signed lower right. Oil on Canvas Board. Violeta Janes first gained recognition in the 1930's as an illustrator and commercial artist she was commissioned to work for the Disney Studios in London. After World War II, Janes painted exclusively portraits and figures. Her art was regularly exhibited at such major venues as the Royal Academy (from 1948), the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, the Pastel Society and at the Paris Salon. She was also invited to participate in the Bilan de l'Art Contemporain Exhibition at the Place de Louvre, Paris. Solo exhibitions of her art took place in London at the Broomfield Museum and at the Mayfair Art Gallery, as well as in Quebec City, at the Municipal Congress Centre. She was a full member of the Federation of British Artists, the United Society of Artists and the Societe Francais, Paris. Sight Size: 19.5 x 15.5 in. Overall Framed Size: 28.25 x 24.5 in.
