    38.7 by 66cm., 15¼ by 26in. painted by Charles Hürten, signed, with a still life of fruit including a pineapple, a melon, an orange, grapes and a blue and white vase, resting on a stone ledge beside a pillar, framed impressed factory mark NOTE Charles Ferdinand Hürten (1818-1901) was German born but employed as a painter by several Paris decorating establishments and by Sévres. His exhibits for them were noticed by Copelands at the 1858 Paris Exhibition who employed him from 1859 until he retired in 1897. His productions were a notable feature of the Copeland exhibits at the London International Exhibition of 1862, the Paris exhibition of 1878 and the Exhibitions of Vienna, Berlin, Philadelphia, Melbourne, Sydney and Chicago. During this period he achieved the reputation as the best floral painter in the world.
