Ferner zwei gewidmete Original-Portraitphotos. Stockholm, 1947-1950. Verschiedene Formate (Faltspuren). Die Briefe jeweils an Else Wegener (1892-1992), die Witwe des Polarforschers Alfred Wegener (1880-1930). Wegener war die Schwiegermutter des zu dieser Zeit noch in Tibet festsitzenden Alpinisten und Forschungsreisenden Heinrich Harrer (1912-2006), die Korrespondenz dreht sich vor allem um Nachrichten über dessen Verbleib und Lage, ausserdem um Probleme Wegeners in der Nachkriegszeit und materielle Hilfen durch Hedin. "Von Herren Harrer und Aufschnaiter habe ich seit etwa 5 Monaten nichts gehört und möchte fragen ob Sie in der letzten Zeit Nachrichten von den beiden Herren gehabt haben?" (17. My books will probably soon be published in new editions [...]" Sven Hedin was a Swedish geographer, topographer, explorer, photographer, travel writer and an illustrator of his own works. In four expeditions to Central Asia, he discovered the Transhimalaya (named the Hedin Mountains after him), the sources of the Brahmaputra, Indus and Sutlej rivers, Lake Lop Nor, as well as remains of cities, burial sites and the Great Wall of China in the deserts of the Tarim Basin. Sven Hedin was the last person to receive Swedish knighthood, raised to the untitled nobility by King Oskar II in 1902. President of the National Academy of Science of Sweden. As such, who will have a prominent part in the selection of the future Nobel prize winners. The conclusion of his life's work was the posthumous publication of his "Central Asia atlas" (Sven Anders Hedin; Nils Peter Ambolt (1966) Atlas de l'Asie centrale , Statens etnografiska museum, Stockholm). Mes livres vont sans doute bientôt sortir dans de nouvelles éditions [...]" Sven Hedin était un géographe, topographe, explorateur, photographe, écrivain de voyage suédois, illustrateur de ses propres œuvres. Au cours de quatre expéditions en Asie centrale, il a découvert le Transhimalaya (baptisé après lui les monts Hedin), les sources du Brahmapoutre, de l'Indus et du Sutlej, le lac Lop Nor, ainsi que des vestiges de villes, des sites funéraires et la Grande Muraille de Chine dans les déserts du bassin du Tarim. Sven Hedin est la dernière personne à avoir reçu le titre de chevalier suédois, élevé à la noblesse sans titre par le roi Oskar II en 1902. Président de l'Académie nationale des sciences de Suède, il occupait le sixième des 18 postes de membre élu de l'Académie suédoise. A ce poste, il aura un rôle prépondérant dans la sélection des futurs lauréats du prix Nobel. La conclusion de l'œuvre de sa vie fut la publication posthume de son "atlas de l'Asie centrale" (Sven Anders Hedin ; Nils Peter Ambolt (1966) Central Asia Atlas, Statens etnografiska museum, Stockholm).

Porträt-Photographie mit eigh. Widmung auf dem Untersatzkarton. 29 x 19,5 cm (Bildgröße 15,5 x10,7 cm). In einen zugehörigen Kartondeckel montiert. Berlin 4.II.1943. Frau Eva Dieckhoff in Erinnerung einer 20jährigen Freundschaft, und vielen unvergesslichen Stunden; mit herzlichen Grüssen von Ihrem treu ergebenen Sven Hedin. Das schöne Porträt (Kopfbild, Halbprofil nach rechts) eines schwedischen Hofphotographen ist auch von diesem signiert. - Die rechte obere Ecke des Kartons durchgehend mit bräunlichem Wasserfleck, jedoch ohne Berührung des Bildes. - Dabei: Derselbe. Eigenhändiger Brief mit U. "Sven Hedin". 1 1/2 S. 8vo. An den deutschen Botschafter Hans Heinrich Dieckhoff, dem er seinen Besuch zur Mittagszeit ankündigt. Dieckhoff (1884-1952) war ab 1922 Botschaftsrat an der Deutschen Botschaft in Washington. - Gelocht und zweimal gefaltet.- Derselbe. Grand Cañon.         HEDIN SVEN: (1865-1952) Swedish Geographer, Explorer and Travel Writer. A.L.S., Sven Hedin, on one side of a correspondence card, Stockholm, 7th June 1914, to Berndt Hage, in Swedish. Hedin informs his correspondent that he has forwarded a letter to Heidenstam and added 'a few warm obliging words saying that St. Skedevi is a place which assures happiness.' He continues 'Heidenstam is difficult to get a word out of, especially as he has so much work to do. But perhaps!' Accompanied by the original envelope hand addressed by Hedin. VG

Ink signature, "After a charming and never-to-be-forgotten dinner with Sweet Marie, her sincere friend, Sven Hedin 28/II/1923," on an off-white 11.5 x 9 album page, with a circular clipped photo affixed to lower left of page. The item has been removably archivally sleeved in acid free Mylar. In fine condition, with some mild edge toning and a rough left edge from removal.
