Cette courte période d’ouverture a stimulé l’émergence de la scène artistique et culturelle iranienne. Shadi Ghradirian, figure aujourd’hui, parmi ceux qui sont les plus dynamiques et inspirés de sa génération. Celle d’une jeunesse qui aujourd’hui, représente plus de 60% de la population et qui aspire à plus de liberté Exposée partout dans le monde, ses œuvres sont aussi bien dans des collections privés que dans les musées prestigieux. En parallèle de ses études de photographie à l’Université Azad où elle a été une des premières filles, Shadi Ghadirian travaillait au Musée de La Photographie” Akshaneh Shahr ”. Ce musée fondé et dirigé à l’époque par Bahman Jallali et Rana Javadi détenait une magnifique collection de photos du XIXe siècle. Le couple y avait même reconstitué dans une des ailes, un studio de photo de l’époque Qadjar. Fascinée par cette période de liberté et d’opulence, Shadi s’est inspirée de cette tradition et a recréé chez elle un studio qu’elle a fait peindre par un ami, a loué et fabriqué des vêtements d’époque et a demandé à ses proches de se prêter au jeu du portrait de studio Qadjar dont elle a copié scrupuleusement les poses. Les objets contemporains qu’elle ajoute dans ses décors donnent à ces portraits cette touche d’humour et créent une sorte d’anachronisme voulu. Ces accessoires choisis avec soin représentent des sortes d’emblèmes de la jeunesse qui pendant des années étaient officiellement interdits. : Casque de moto, canette de coca, bicyclette, ghetto blaster. Ces portraits amalgament avec subtilité la nostalgie d’un passé regretté et les aspirations des jeunes à vivre les signes de la modernité. Shadi Joue subtilement avec les codes et exploite habilement les limites de leurs transgressions. A travers ces mises en scène de la vie quotidienne à Téhéran, issu de ses préoccupations sociales, Shadi contribue à démystifier les images réductrices qu’on peut avoir de part et d’autre. Elle nous ouvre la porte sur d’autres connaissances en donnant forme à des œuvres d’art très inspirées qui s’inscrivent dans une réalité vive, complexe et aux connotations multiples.
