In the foreground behind the balustrade, a man in a gondola is shown serenading his lover, who looks down from a balcony. Behind him, the bustle of the Venice canal and its architecture can be recognised. The poster is in good condition with slight signs of age and wear. The borders are slightly yellowed, have age-related marks and small kinks. The print shop’s spade emblem with the text “Lith Adolph Friedländer, Hamburg” and the numbering “5898” is located in the bottom right of the poster. It measures 71 x 47.5 cm.         Friedländer, Adolph ?Talera? Farblithographie. 186 x 71 cm. Hamburg, Adolph Friedlaender, um 1895. Geheimnisvolle "Talera" im orientalischen Kostüm beim Verführungstanz. Nach einer Photographie von Manuel lithographiert von Adolph Friedländer (1851-1904), einem der bekanntesten deutschen Plakat-Lithographen. Er hatte zunächst Etiketten und Kleinplakate für Schauspiele gedruckt, spezialisierte sich aber ab 1870 auf den wesentlich komplizierteren Lithodruck mit großen vierfarbigen Platten nach dem in Frankreich entwickelten Farbdruckverfahren. Berühmt wurde seine Druckerei vor allem durch die Großaufträge Carl Hagenbecks in den Jahren 1883 und 1884 für dessen Tierschauplakate. Sein Lebenswerk umfasst zwischen 1872 und 1935 über 9000 Plakate, die auf Friedländers modernsten Schnellpressen in großen Auflagen - teilweise entstanden bis zu 600 Stück in der Stunde! - gedruckt wurden. Das vorliegende Plakat "Talera" gehört jedoch zu den frühesten und aufwändigsten seiner Kunst, war allein schon die Größe eine nicht kleine Herausforderung gewesen. Die prachtvollen, in den einzelnen Platten sauber angepassten, Farbschattierungen zeigen das ganze Können dieses außergewöhnlichen Künstlers. Mehrfache Knickspuren, sauber auf Japanpapier montiert und dabei kleine Randeinrisse (wenige in der Darstellung) geschlossen, lediglich kleine Läsuren an den Knickfalzen, insgesamt prachtvoll erhaltenes, sehr seltenes Großplakat in grandioser, frischer Farbigkeit. - Vgl.
