MOTE These are rare steel engravings from the valuable set "Children of Noblemen" by Egley printed in 1849. This pair of steel engravings are beautifulexamples of William Maw Egley’s (1798 – 1870) finest work. They are clean, in excellent condition, and hand-colored by the artist. W.H. Mote was the engraver. Both Egley & Mote are historic names in art history. Egley’sminatures (2.5” x 3”) sell for over $5000. Bidding on this type of art is not about the value as much as it is about the history. Owning artwork such as these two Egley pieces is owning a piece of art history!A tag on the back shows these may have come from the estate of The Lady Margaret Coker. Art 5.5 x 7in Frame 13 x 15. The frames have applique and paint missing but it gives them a wonderfulshabby chic look!
